Abstract

The business for making biogas was supported by the availability of sufficient raw materials in the Dusun Bendungan with the potential availability of raw material for cow feces 5176 tons per year from the total raw material requirement for cow feces of 370 tons per year. The fermentation technology/equipment used (continuous flow digester with face to face system) could be adopted/designed so that it was able to support the production process plan continuously and was able to meet the biogas production capacity of 180,000 m3 per year. From the above criteria, it could be said that the technical aspects of production were sustainable (support) this project, meaning that this project was feasible from the technical aspects of production.

The financial aspects of the business of making biogas from cow feces can bring positive (profitable) benefits. This is indicated by the net present value (NPV) generated of Rp. 149,005,901.10 with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 19.98% and the ratio of present value of net cash flows to initial investment capital (Profitability Index) is 1.687. The payback period for the initial investment is 4 years 9 months with the economic life of the fixed assets for 8 years. Thus it can be stated that the business of making biogas from cow feces as an alternative energy source is feasible to run.
